Cosmetic Acupuncture

An experienced cosmetic acupuncture practitioner, Kriss applies the  “Mei Zen Technique” microneedling, and her specialized, signature Skin Deep + Beyond treatment.

This natural cosmetic facial acupuncture treatment revitalizes your skin, softens facial lines and fine wrinkles, relaxes and tightens muscle tone, among collagen and elastin boosting benefits. Kriss uses custom needling protocol as well as facial cupping, and gua-sha, sessions are enhanced by all-natural facial products.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy uses glass or plastic cups to manipulate the muscles. It is similar to deep tissue massage, reducing tension, knots and scar tissue. When used by an expert like Kriss, they also draw out toxins, including lactic acid, found within the body. Contemporary methods such as orthopaedic sports medical cupping may also be used for muscular-skeletal issues while movable cupping stimulates the lymphatic system. This lymphatic drainage boosts the immune system, improves the functioning of the autonomic nervous system and helps to decrease swelling.

Chinese Herbs

Chinese Herbology is an ancient form of healing, complimenting all other forms of TCM with a prescribed formula.
TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) relies on herbal therapies both for the treatment of illness and in the optimization of health and prevention of disease.  Herbs can be a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with other modalities such as acupuncture therapy.

TCM practitioners most often use two or more ingredients in Chinese medicinal formulations to create a balanced, synergistic remedy that reflects the holistic nature of the diagnosis.

There are formulas for just about every condition imaginable, however often modified by the TCM practitioner to suit the constitution of the patient and, making each formulation highly individualized.

Tui-Na Massage

Is a type of bodywork that includes various styles of therapeutic touch incorporating shiatsu, acu-pressure and fascial work.
Tui-Na, also known as the grandfather Chinese massage. is both a therapeutic and relaxing massage often complimenting an acupuncture treatment.
Tui-Na works on the energy channels and points on the body using the same principles as acupuncture except
with the use of fingers, hands and elbows instead of needles. By combining acupressure,
shiatsu and Swedish massage techniques, this method will invigorate blood, increasecirculation, relieve pain, reduce stress and ease tense, tight muscles.

Gua-Sha

Gua-Sha is a Traditional Chinese Medical treatment in which the skin is scraped to produce blood flow and natural healing.
Scraping is done when a tool is used to “scrape” over a muscle or sore spot to help move toxins out, break up scar tissue or get rid of tendonitis.

Sound Therapy

Kriss recognizes the healing nature of music through her extensive work as a Toronto DJ and conscious event promoter.  Our Simple Process

1

In-depth Consultation

During your initial treatment at our Toronto or Scarborough acupuncture clinic, we perform a thorough intake assessment. Here we will ask about your past and present medical history, your general health, and current complaint or condition.

Prior to treatment, you will get a pulse and tongue diagnosis, along with appropriate physical examination.

2

Customized TCM Treatment

After consultation, which may include a diagnosis and treatment protocol, your customized therapy begins. Sterile, one-time use acupuncture needles are inserted into specific points along the related meridian pathway(s). Other modalities that may enter are Tui-Na cupping, herbal remedies, moxibustion, Gua-Sha and/or auricular therapy.

Retention of needles is usually 15 – 30min.

3

Treatment Plan

Through attentive listening, depth of knowledge and intuitive care, Kriss and team will implement a specialized treatment plan, actioning holistic modalities customized to the individual.
